April, 2026

Lent, Holy Week, and Easter have just concluded and it was quite a whirlwind.  Thanks to all of you who contributed to making this special time of year that much more memorable for everyone.  And I am sure the Lord is proud of all of us at Calvary Baptist Church for the effort that was put forth!

I enjoyed getting involved with the Belmar Council of Churches. We attended Lenten Luncheons at the First Presbyterian Church of Belmar enjoying fellowship, study, and prayer.  It was nice working with Rev. William Morris, the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belmar and their secretary, Nancy Steele. I am looking forward to a greater involvement with this council of churches in the future.

Most of the events of Lent and Holy Week should be on our Facebook and YouTube page as they were livestreamed.  You can view any of these services at Calvary Baptist Church by going to our website at: cbcbelmar.org then go to the menu bar and click on LIVESTREAM, then click on YouTube to view past services. To view the Good Friday Community Service held at the First Presbyterian Church of Belmar, go to their website: pcbelmar.org and or click on the link: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1CfXtv3SJ1/ .

Our Church also had a Lenten study on Max Lucado’s series ‘He Chose the Nails’.  I really enjoy Max Lucado as an author, teacher, and storyteller. Our Next Bible Study will be with Christine Caine in her series Don’t Look Back: Getting Unstuck and Moving Forward with Passion and Purpose’, with DVD & study guide. Classes will begin at 12:30pm on Tuesdays April 21, 28, May 12, & 19 and Thurs. May 7th. We will meet in the Church Conference Room and the class will also be available on Zoom: Meeting ID: 879 7278 0851/ Passcode: 548143.

We are looking forward to Branden’s baptism sometime in May. If you would like to be baptized during that time, please see Pastor Nancy or me.

April is Earth Month. We will be hearing from Will Heyniger, whose family has a long history at Calvary Baptist Church.  Mr. Heyniger will be sharing about an upcoming tree donation he desires to make to the church.  He will share at the April 12th, 10:30am, in-person service, during the announcement time.  What a great way to celebrate Earth Day with the possibility of planting new trees on our property!

Please keep the church in your prayers as we continue to repair our parsonage and look forward to doing a fundraising campaign to address the needs of the church building. I will also be talking with the Church Staff regarding outreach and evangelism strategies. Please keep us in prayer during these discussions.

In Christ,

Pastor Dwayne
