On March 3, 2024, the John Luckenbill Pops Band performed a themed concert at Calvary Baptist Church. It was wonderful! Today's performance was a tribute to Women's History Month. Among the selections the band played were medleys from Broadway shows, featuring music from West Side Story, Chicago, and Gypsy.
Other songs included a rousing rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In," as well as a Sousa march. The finale was a moving tribute to Loretta Hensley, the late wife of band member (and Calvary's own) Richard Hensley with their playing of her favorite song, "God Bless America."
At the conclusion of the concert, Pastor James remarked that "we are blessed to have had such a gifted and talented group of musicians perform at Calvary Baptist Church." Indeed!
